Description
Support the Director of Communications and Engagement to implement a comprehensive strategic approach to engagement with members, strategic partners and key stakeholders at both a corporate and project level.
Advise the Communications and Engagement Director and broader team on methods to enhance communication and build positive relationships with partners, allied stakeholders, commercial and industrial organisations, local and national government, the media as well as patients and the public.
Deliver effective engagement with media, ministerial and government stakeholders where required.
Give strategic communications and engagement advice and counsel to the wider team and our members when required.
Oversee the day-to-day planning and delivery of a high quality communications and engagement programme for both the company and its individual projects
A high quality programme of events ranging from large conferences and workshops to smaller dinners and seminars.
The development of online and digital platforms - optimising these to promote the organisation, support its wider marketing strategy and promote open communications and networking where possible;
A range of high quality corporate literature and champion high quality patient and public literature;
Effective engagement with media, ministerial and government stakeholders where required.
Innovative and effective methodologies to engage and involve patients and the public in our work.
Strategic communications and engagement advice and counsel to the wider team and our members when required.
Lead the planning and delivery of an annual stakeholder perceptions audit.
Support the Director in ensuring there is a robust and strategic approach to articulating and marketing the work of the organization, ensuring this is based on insight and customer feedback.
Lead the development of a communications and engagement "offer" and the provision of consultancy services to our members and beyond, generating income on an annual basis.
Oversee the business management of the communications and engagement team, aligning to the business delivery model, including managing new requests for work, allocating resource and tracking and evaluating delivery of work.
Responsible for the day-to-day operational management of a high performing team who deliver a series of products including stakeholder management and engagement, strategic communications campaigns, media relations, public affairs, events and publications
Ensure that members of the communications and engagement team, both employed staff members as well as freelancers and consultants, have clear roles, responsibilities and goals, and are also supported to manage staff where appropriate.
Support the Director to set a communication and engagement budget, and have managerial responsibility for it on a day-to-day basis, ensuring resources are in place to deliver an effective communications and engagement service to the agreed timelines and budget.
Profile
Senior level communications experience, with expertise in the full range of internal and external communication
Experience of presenting to and advising senior colleagues on communication
Experience of managing staff and contractors
Working with executive-level colleagues
Experience of patient, public and stakeholder engagement processes
Experience of researching topics, preparing briefings
Competent use of the full range of communication channels including printed and digital
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
Proficient in communicating effectively and influence executive level colleagues
Ability to understand the needs of different audiences and targeting messages for maximum impact
Confidence to handle high profile media enquiries and to advise spokespeople on messages and challenging situations
Ability to prioritise workload effectively within a fast paced environment and work to strict deadlines using a systemic approach
Ability to work accurately with attention to detail
Advanced keyboard skills for producing high quality corporate and patent and public literature
Ability to build relationships with peers and work as a team
Ability to work autonomously, and also request management support where appropriate
