Registered Home Manager 

Our client is looking for a Home Manager to join a team offering therapeutic residential care for males aged between 11-18 years who have difficulties related to attachment and developmental trauma, and who have perpetrated sexually harmful behaviour. 

Position: Registered Home Manager 
Location: Reading & Bracknell, Berkshire 
Job type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, 150 hours per month 
Salary: £33,000 to £40,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)

About the role: 

The Home Manager will provide a combination of effective safeguarding, support to the young people in the home and leadership to the team of which they are in charge. They will be responsible for the management and day to day running of the home, including staffing, weekly budget, the resources, and the fabric of the building. 

The role involves leading excellent standards of individualised care and meeting the emotional, physical and developmental needs of the children and young people at the home. The Home Manager will promote the ethos of openness and use the principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE) to provide the children/ young people with attachment security. The role will involve supporting the therapy and education programmes and liaising with families / external agencies. 

The Home Manager will provide staff training and leadership, guidance, motivation, creativity and management to other staff. They will oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of placement plans and risk assessments and maintain accurate records within the house in line with legislation and company policies. The role will involve ‘On Call’ duties. 

About you: 

The Home Manager must have at least 2 years’ experience working with children / young people (at least 1 year in a senior role with managerial responsibilities); and previous experience of working with children / young people with emotional or behavioural difficulties / disrupted attachments. 

The Home Manager must have achieved or be willing / able to work towards Diploma 5 in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare; or a qualification that the registered provider considers to be equivalent. They must have working knowledge of The Children’s Homes (England) Regulations 2015; Working together to safeguard children 2018; and any other relevant legislation.

They will display empathy, creativity and a sense of fun. They will have good report writing and verbal communication skills.
