Woking, Surrey GU21 4LL

This is an exciting time to join the team working with over 5 million supporters to restore nature and tackle the main causes of its decline. Whether it’s climate change or the food system, young people are key stakeholders in building a world with thriving habitats and species. This is where your passion for nature and talents come in.

As part of the team, Secondary Education Officer will enjoy the unique opportunity to shape a new education programme for 11-18 years olds and their educators in formal and informal learning settings. Working with the Education Manager you will link our scientific research, conservation programmes and campaigns to the school curricula and design an engaging programme that delivers a positive impact. Secondary Education Officer will provide our audience with the knowledge and skills they need to help restore nature and protect the environment.

Your role will involve project managing the programme’s development, including researching, commissioning and editing digital resources, planning face to face events and teacher CPD. You will implement the project plan to deadline and budget too. Secondary Education Officer will also collaborate with colleagues to develop a communications strategy and plan as well as the marketing activity for educational resources, workshops and outreach programmes. We will look to you to monitor and evaluate effectiveness of the programme and identify areas for improvement and development too.

Secondary Education Officer will have a background in geography, science or conservation and an in-depth understanding of the secondary school curricular in the UK. You will have also worked in or with secondary schools as well as developed or delivered relevant educational materials or programmes. Good at managing and allocating resources, you will have a track record of delivering projects on time and within budget. Experience in the design and development of digital or print production processes would be a distinct advantage.

An effective communicator, you have an eye for detail and the ability to build positive relationships with a variety of stakeholders. You will also be skilled at evaluating the success of work plans and making recommendations to enhance performance.

At WWF-UK we are committed to creating an inclusive working environment, where diversity is valued and there is equality of opportunity. We therefore welcome applications from all sections of the community and we offer a range of benefits to encourage a work life balance.

Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We’re looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.

Company

Best known as the world’s leading conservation body, we’ve seen first-hand how wildlife, the environment and human activity are all interlinked.

That’s why our passion for safeguarding the natural world has to be backed up by other environmental action – tackling the global threat of climate change (through our big global campaigns like Earth Hour) and helping people to change the way they live to ease pressure on natural resources.

WWF is at the heart of global activities in all these areas. We have teams of highly skilled professionals working with governments, businesses and communities here in the UK and around the world.
