Job Details
Prospectus are supporting an ambitious, England-wide social movement, which aims to end the stigma, and discrimination faced by people with mental health problems. Since their campaign started in 2007, there has been a significant change in the way mental health is viewed and talked about, and as a result, they are currently looking to recruit a Community Equalities Coordinator to continue their campaign across London. This role is offered as a fixed term contract until 31st March 2021.
With a focus of combatting stigma surrounding mental health, they have numerous hubs that consist of a broad partnership of organisations across all sectors, working together with people with experience of mental health problems to maximise the collective impact of local mental health anti-stigma work.
As their Community Equalities Coordinator, you will be responsible for developing relationships with local, private and voluntary sector partners and key stakeholders of their hubs in Waltham Forest and Kingston. You will also train and support diverse people who have personal, lived experience of mental health problems to set up peer-led Champion Campaign Groups including those from marginalised and disadvantaged communities to successfully design and deliver their own anti-stigma activities. Finally, you will be at the forefront of the campaign, attending steering groups, running training and guiding Hubs in the smooth delivery of this champion-led movement.
To be considered, you will have significant experience of supporting and developing strategic partnerships between multiple organisations and sectors, combined with experience of community development with marginalised and disadvantaged communities. This is a peer-led campaign, and as such previous experience of identifying, recruiting and managing volunteers is essential, as is the knowledge of supporting and developing people with lived experience of mental health. Finally, due to this position being home based, you will possess the ability to work independently with management support offered remotely. Lived in experience of mental health is more preferable.
To apply please initially apply with a Word-formatted version of your CV - suitable candidates will then be contacted.
