Policy and Campaigns Officer (Conservation / Charity)

Full time 35 hours per week
Circa £23,000 - £24,000 pa (depending on experience & qualifications)
Our client is the leading local nature conservation charity with a lively, dedicated and passionate team of just over 100 staff and around 1400 volunteers.
This is an exciting opportunity for a policy, public affairs or campaigns professional to help create a wilder future for our client.
Wildlife is in freefall both locally and nationally and, in order to get nature on the road to recovery, our client needs to secure a strong and enabling policy environment and they need governments, businesses and other stakeholders to act in support of wildlife.
Our client is looking for a highly motivated, creative and energetic person to join their team - to help them influence decision makers and to develop campaigns which effectively mobilise public support for their aims.
The role would suit someone with a passion for environmental and conservation issues, who enjoys finding creative and effective ways of achieving tangible, positive change.
The ideal candidate should have a good understanding of the relevant current policy environment, together with knowledge of political processes at a local and national level and experience of influencing and delivering effective campaigns, using both traditional and digital tools. They would like someone who is great at engaging a range of audiences - from MPs and councillors to farmers, businesses, supporters and the wider public.
This is a new role, within the Communications and External Affairs team and will work closely with the Senior Policy and Evidence advisor as well as with colleagues. The ability to build positive working relationships, both internally and externally is a must.
