ActionAid UK are recruiting for a Programme Quality and Assurance (PQA) specialist in the PQA team, which sits within the Humanitarian Programme and Policy Unit.

ActionAid is an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. Our dedicated local staff are ending violence against women and girls and helping change lives, for good. We won’t stop until women and girls are out of danger, out of poverty and on track to create the future they want.

We are looking for someone who will bring strong grant management, accountability (in particular CHS), humanitarian programming learning experience, and a spirit of collaboration to ActionAid UK as it delivers on its 5-year Strategy.

The Humanitarian Programme Quality and Assurance (PQA) team at ActionAid UK is responsible for providing assurance to the women and girls and the donors that we work with, that our support to humanitarian and resilience programming maximises the impact that we have on the lives of women and girls.

We are now recruiting for a PQA Specialist to provide PQA support on AAUK contracted projects and to work in collaboration with country teams to embed new accountability standards within ActionAid’s humanitarian programmes, in line with the federation’s humanitarian signature.

This is a varied and challenging role, which will see the post holder spending time supporting ActionAid UK and other ActionAid countries through the verification process to the Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS). Another core focus of the role will be supporting grant, contract and project management for institutional funding programmes.

The PQA Specialist will also be tasked with encouraging programme learning on coherence around CHS compliance.

In order to succeed within this role, it is essential that our PQA specialist has strong grant management, accountability and humanitarian programming learning experience.

Applicants must also have proven knowledge of key international standards relating to emergency work and humanitarian accountability and experience in implementing accountability at programmatic or organisational level.

We are keen to receive applications from those with proven experience of managing institutionally funded grants or contracts in the humanitarian sector; we are particularly interested in your experience of DFID, the DEC, the Start Fund, the EU and the Humanitarian Grand Challenge.

If you have this experience and a desire to join ActionAid UK on our journey to Change the lives of women and girls living in poverty. For good, then this may be the role for you.

As well as offering you the chance to work within a team of passionate and motivated humanitarian professionals, we also offer a generous annual leave and benefits package, the option to work flexibly and the chance to join in with a variety of social and sporting groups held internally.

We look forward to receiving your application!
