This is an exciting time to join our client as they are now at the halfway stage of their five year organisational strategy. Their ambition is to end homelessness and they are working hard to reverse the increase in people sleeping rough in England. In the areas where they work, they aim to halve the number of people sleeping rough by 2021.
They have recently taken on provision of a variety of services in Sutton in Greater London:
A 6 bed assessment center which provides 24 hour supported accommodation for male and female rough sleepers, many of whom have complex needs including alcohol and substance use, and mental health needs.
A housing support service which offers a variety of accommodation options to clients, in order to ensure their support needs are met. The service is provided to male and female rough sleepers or those who are vulnerably housed.
A floating support service which focuses on two elements: prevention and resettlement. The prevention service is provided for those who are currently housed but whose support needs are putting their tenancy at risk. The resettlement service is for clients who are leaving the pathways’ supported accommodation and moving into independent accommodation and need some support to ensure this is a successful move for them.
About the roles
They are recruiting to various roles within these services. This includes roles such as Project Workers who will provide high-quality support and advice based at the Assessment Centre. Project Workers will be required to work flexibly on a shift rota that includes weekends and public holidays.
They are also seeking Housing Support and Floating Support Workers who will be responsible for the keywork of a caseload of clients with low-medium support needs. This will take place in supported accommodation or the client’s own homes. You will work in partnership with a multidisciplinary team of support staff, specialist staff and external partners to support clients through their recovery. These positions do not involve shift work and offers flexible working hours, Monday to Friday.
What are we looking for?
To succeed in these highly rewarding roles you will have an excellent understanding of the issues faced by homeless or vulnerably housed people – you may have had personal experience of homelessness yourself. You will have some experience of helping vulnerable people to identify personal goals and supporting them through a process of change. You will also have a sound understanding of the support needs of people with low incomes, including rent payments/arrears and professional boundary issues.
