Position: Dog Welfare Officer
Location: Heyshott, West Sussex
Job type: Part Time, 12 Months Maternity Cover
Hours: 25 hours per week, Monday 8am to 1.00pm, Tuesday to Friday 07.30 to 12.30
Salary: £17,874(pro rata to £11,916 for part time)

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join the Advanced Training Team as a Dog Welfare Officer working directly with their assistance dogs in training. The role consists of providing and maintaining the welfare needs of young dogs aged between 12 and 18 months during their stay in their onsite kennels whilst they undergo training to become assistance dogs.
This role is physically demanding and involves a lot of kennel cleaning and working outside in all weathers. You will also be required to maintain the high standards of obedience they teach their dogs, and give grooming and health instructions to their partners.
Responsibilities:
- Maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the kennels
- Ensuring the welfare needs of dogs are met at all times
- Assisting with the re-homing process for dogs that are withdrawn from training
- Establishing toilet routines for dogs
- Exercising, grooming, feeding and bathing dogs, monitoring their health
About you:
- An understanding of dog care and welfare issues
- Comfortable with dogs in the workplace
- Able to work outside in all weathers
- Ability to communicate with a wide range of people
- Excellent attention to detail
- Administration skills
- Full UK driving licence in order to transport dogs to veterinary appointments
- Ability to fulfill occasional overnight duties and weekend work as required
