Established in 1986, Make-A-Wish UK is part of the world’s largest wishgranting organisation. We create life-changing wishes for children with critical illnesses.
When a seriously ill child turns to us, we take them on a carefully structured Wish Journey. It allows everyone involved, whether family members, volunteers, sponsors or extended communities, to experience true happiness. It gives children renewed energy and strength, brings families closer together, and unites communities.

We want to reach and impact more lives through the granting of wishes. This newly created role will facilitate systemic change across the organisation and wider community through the adoption of new approaches, mindsets and capabilities that will redefine our relationships with the child, family and community.
The Director of Capability Development will lead on the identification of our capability gap to deliver our strategic goals and deliver a joined up solution across people, processes and systems to bridge the gap, and reach every child.
Successful candidates will be experienced leaders with significant experience within a complex, dynamic environment and a track record of initiating, facilitating and implementing change and building organisational capability. You will have the ability to lead and champion a culture of innovation by challenging the status-quo to unlock new ideas and new ways of working.
Critical to your success will be your experience of leading people through organisational and cultural change and importantly, you will bring a demonstrable and genuine commitment to the mission of Make-A-Wish with a values-led approach that puts the child at the heart of everything we do.
We are open to receiving applications from candidates with relevant transferable experience from the commercial sector.
