Citizens Advice is recruiting 3 Senior Policy Researchers to join our policy research teams.  This is an exciting opportunity to work on the big issues facing people across the UK today - from universal credit, debt and money to post, telecoms and consumer markets.

Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. Through our national network of charities, we give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

We’re an organisation with a relentless focus on making society fairer. Each year we help 2.7 million people to solve their problems across England and Wales. We have a unique insight into emerging trends and issues affecting those we help, and we use it to influence government, regulators and industry to improve people's lives.

As a senior member of the team, you’ll design and deliver major research and influencing projects from start to finish, while supporting junior members of the team to reach their potential. Our strong, respected brand means that you will have unique opportunities to engage directly with the people and organisations who have the power to make the changes we want to see - from parliamentarians and the civil service to regulators and industry. Last year, for example, our research persuaded the Financial Conduct Authority to introduce a cap on rent-to-own products, saving millions of pounds for people in debt.

You will have a strong track record of designing and delivering influential policy research projects. Alongside strong research skills, you will have the drive and ability to turn our research into influential policy outputs which make a compelling case for change and work with our world class public affairs, news and data teams to make these changes happen.

We are recruiting to three of our policy teams: Consumer and Public Services team (this role will focus on our debt & money work), Families, Welfare & Work team and our Post and Telecoms team.  To give you an idea of what it's like to work in our policy research teams, 4 team members share examples of a day in their lives in this recent blog post.

We are happy to consider flexible working, which may include arrangements such as part-time working, formalised flexitime, fixed (non-standard) working hours, working from home and job-sharing.

We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented throughout Citizens Advice. We are a member of the race equality campaign at Business in the Community, the Prince’s responsible business network and are committed to improving employment opportunities for ethnic minorities across the UK. We also welcome applications from LGB and Trans and non binary candidates.

We have made a positive commitment to employing disabled people and guarantee to interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role as set out in role profiles.
