Youth Advocacy Manager

Our client provides young people aged 8-25 with high quality services, delivered through a network of 3,536 local youth organisations across the UK. Together they offer support, advice and training to over 1.5 million young people to equip them with skills for the future and help them engage in education, volunteering and employment.

About the role
Involving young people in the design and delivery of their activities and empowering them to become active citizens and create positive change is embedded throughout their work. This is an exciting time to join the Engagement and Advocacy team as they have recently launched a new movement to ensure that all young people have access to high quality services in their community and ensuring young people’s voices are at the heart of that is essential.

It is a great opportunity for someone with first rate youth work and advocacy experience who’s passionate about changing the outcomes for young people and ensuring they are at the centre of decision-making processes. It offers the chance to play a leading role in supporting young people to influence national policy and secure UK Youth as a key voice, partner and influencer.

You will be responsible for managing a range of projects and workstreams to enable young people from youth organisations across the Movement to express their views and have them listened to. You will build effective ways of leading and representing youth organisations who are part of their movement and embed effective approaches to ensure there are opportunities for the young people they work with to get their voices heard.

Why work for them?

They are a passionate and committed team and can provide a friendly working environment with lots of opportunities to socialise with colleagues through activities such as office yoga, lunch n learn sessions and potluck lunches; as well as out of work social events with recent outings including bowling, tennis and karaoke.

In June they will be moving to a new fully accessible office in central London. With multiple public transport links, the office will offer a bright, modern and engaging working environment and access to local green spaces, cafes, bars and shops. The office space will have lots of natural light throughout, a staffed reception, showers and cycle storage with breakout and communal spaces.

They offer a salary of between £30,000- £35,000. Additional benefits include 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension scheme (currently they match employee contributions up to 5%), a life insurance scheme which would pay out up to 4 times your salary and additional staff benefits including an Employee Assistance programme to support employees both professionally and personally. They are committed to investing in the personal and professional development of everyone for them.

They prides themselves on being an Equal Opportunity employer and particularly welcomes applications from those who identify under one of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, which are race, age, disability, gender reassignment, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership and pregnancy.
They also encourage candidates who would like to work part time or as a job share to apply.

They value the differences that a diverse workforce brings and is committed to inclusivity, and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. Their selection procedures ensure that people are treated on the basis of their relevant merits, experience, skills and abilities and that no individual receives more or less favourable treatment. We can offer flexibility through the interview process and endeavour to accommodate candidate’s needs.

As this role involves working in a regulated environment with Young People any offer will be conditional to satisfactory background checks which include criminal record check and employment reference.
