Head of Programmes

Our client provides young people aged 8-25 with high quality services, delivered through a network of 3,536 local youth organisations across the UK. Together they offer support, advice and training to over 1.5 million young people to equip them with skills for the future and help them engage in education, volunteering and employment.

About the role
They are looking for a positive, proactive and highly efficient individual to join their National Programmes Team as Head of Programmes.

You will be a key member of the National Programmes Team working across a portfolio of their inspiring projects that give young people the skills they need to grow into confident and capable adults who lead fulfilling lives. Their programmes tackle widespread issues and range from music and sport engagement, coding, social action, road safety, financial education and employability. Their partners and funders include Microsoft, UPS, CCEP, The National Lottery Community Fund and Sport England.

In this exciting and flexible role, you will work closely with the National Programmes team, as well as with the Finance, Engagement & Advocacy and Communications teams, to lead the delivery of a number of programmes. You will provide support and direction to project managers, coordinators and interns, depending on the projects that you are responsible for. You will report to the Director of National Programmes.

They are looking for someone who has experience of overseeing a portfolio of programmes with excellent project management skills, as well as strong line management experience. You will have an understanding of the issues facing young people, and how these can be addressed through programme design and delivery.

Why work for our client?

They are a passionate and committed team and can provide a friendly working environment with lots of opportunities to socialise with colleagues through activities such as office yoga, lunch and learn sessions and potluck lunches; as well as out of work social events with recent outings including bowling, tennis and karaoke.

In June they will be moving to a new fully accessible office in central London. With multiple public transport links, the office will offer a bright, modern and engaging working environment and access to local green spaces, cafes, bars and shops. The office space will have lots of natural light throughout, a staffed reception, showers and cycle storage with breakout and communal spaces.

They offer a salary of between £38,000- £45,000. Additional benefits include 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension scheme (currently they match employee contributions up to 5%), a life insurance scheme which would pay out up to 4 times your salary and additional staff benefits including an Employee Assistance Programme to support employees both professionally and personally. We are committed to investing in the personal and professional development of everyone for them.

They prides themselves on being an Equal Opportunity employer and particularly welcomes applications from those who identify under one of the protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010, which are race, age, disability, gender reassignment, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partnership and pregnancy.
They also encourage candidates who would like to work part time or as a job share to apply.

They value the differences that a diverse workforce brings and are committed to inclusivity, and to employing and supporting a diverse workforce. Their selection procedures ensure that people are treated on the basis of their relevant merits, experience, skills and abilities and that no individual receives more or less favourable treatment. They can offer flexibility through the interview process and endeavour to accommodate candidate’s needs.

As this role involves working in a regulated environment with young people any offer will be conditional to satisfactory background checks which include criminal record check and employment reference.
