Job Details
Resources for Autism (RfA) is a unique organisation in that it meets the practical needs of children and adults wherever they are on the autistic spectrum including those with behaviours that challenge other organisations and it supports those who love and care for them. It is both the breadth of what we offer and the holistic nature of our provision that makes us special but it is our team that make us successful.
Position: Chief Executive Officer
Salary: circa £70,000
Location: London with monthly travel to West Midlands
We have a team of trained, enthusiastic and kind staff and volunteers offering a wide range of support. All our staff are autism specialists who understand communication and sensory needs. All our staff and volunteers are autism trained and our services are designed to be welcoming and accepting of users, whatever their level of need and support. This includes working positively with people whose behaviour challenges other organisations and with those who may have mental health and other co-conditions.
RfA seeks to identify the most-needed services that reach the largest number of families and demonstrate how these can be provided to a measurable standard of excellence. The charity aims to establish a model for the provision of services that can serve as a model for repetition either as a direct activity of the charity or through the action of other organisations.
We are looking for an individual to provide effective and inspiring leadership to ensure that the organisation continues to grow and develop, enabling children and adults with autism, parents and carers to articulate their needs in order that service users receive optimum support.
The successful candidate will demonstrate:
-Experience of, or demonstrable aptitude for, working in the voluntary sector in a senior management role within an organisation delivering practical services.
-Knowledge of disability and the resulting issues affecting individuals and their families.
-Knowledge of the wider voluntary and statutory sector as it relates to disability and/or mental health.
-Experience of managing teams of staff and volunteers.
-Proven track-record in securing funding from statutory bodies and grant-making trusts.
-Understanding of issues affecting the voluntary sector e.g. funding, legal requirements, employment, partnership working and so on.
-Experience of planning and managing projects with a range of partners or stakeholders.
-Experience of implementing quality standards.
Closing date: 20th June
