Filmmaking Project Manager
Contract / Freelance - 40 days across 12 months from start date
Based: Into Film offices in London N1, Birmingham or Salford
Fee: £6,000 for 40 days across 12 months from start date

Into Film is an education charity that puts film at the heart of children and young people’s educational, cultural and personal development. We are proud to say that over half of UK schools engage with our programme of film clubs, special cinema screenings, and resources and training to support classroom teaching.

The British Council has funded Into Film to be the main delivery partner on Camara Chica, a filmmaking project that began in Cuba in 2013 and that will run in two different countries in 2019/20. The project manager will co-ordinate the UK-based delivery of up to six filmmaking projects which will run in two countries over the next 12 months.

Camara Chica aims to stimulate, support and embed filmmaking in local communities in developing countries. Taking experienced filmmaking facilitators from the UK, the project begins with an intense training course aimed at community workers from the host country before the filmmakers and support workers travel back to their communities to deliver filmmaking projects with young people. The project includes basic, tablet-based filmmaking equipment and comprehensive ‘how-to’ resources to ensure the projects are sustainable and that a legacy of filmmaking continues in the host countries.

The British Council will recruit the two host countries. One is highly likely to be Nepal; the second country is yet to be confirmed. We are looking for an experienced freelance project manager who can work periodically as required to co-ordinate delivery of the project. Set up work will be required June - July with the first phase to be delivered in September. Phase two is likely to be delivered early in 2020, therefore we require someone who can be flexible.

The closing date for applications is 9am on Monday 10th June 2019 with interviews to be held in London on Wednesday 19th June 2019.
The appointee must be in post/available on 8th July 2019 to attend an event
