Events Assistant (Learning Disabilities)

Would you like to support people with learning disabilities to meet new friends and develop relationships?

Hft is one of the leading learning disability charities in the country, providing support for 3,000 people with a learning disability and employing around 3000 staff. Hft empowers people with learning disabilities to live with more independence and choice, and to take control of their lives.

Luv2meetU is a friendship and dating agency for adults with learning disabilities that currently operates in Leeds, Wakefield, Calderdale, Bradford, Sheffield/North East Derbyshire, Kirklees, Cheshire, Newcastle and Bristol.

The project supports up to 300 members across all the areas and has approximately 16 members of staff working within Luv2meetU and its related projects.

Position: Project Events Assistant
Location: Leeds & Wakefield
Hours: Part-time, 18.75 hours per week
Role Type: Fixed term post, 9 months
Salary: £8.21 per hour

About the role:

As a Project Events Assistant you will support people with learning disabilities to develop friendships and relationships through involvement in social events and one to one meetings across the Leeds and Wakefield area.

You will work closely with the Project Events Assistant in Wakefield and the Project Development Worker in Leeds/Wakefield to arrange social events for our members.

About you:

To be considered for this role you will need previous experience of working with vulnerable people including adults with learning disabilities together with an understanding of the needs, experiences and aspirations of people with learning disabilities would be advantageous.

Event organisation skills and experience would be an advantage.
