Housing Outreach Worker
Wellingborough is an attractive market town in north Northamptonshire, full of historical character and surrounded by beautiful countryside. It is also a borough with ambition and has been identified as a growth area by the government. Exciting plans are in place to develop the borough, with the town centre being the focus of major investment.
Position: Housing Outreach Worker
Location: Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
Job type: Full Time, 12 Months Fixed term contract
Salary: £22,911 per annum (with the potential to earn up to £25,801)
Benefits: Include flexible working arrangements, free use of leisure facilities, pension scheme, development opportunities, town centre location and free car parking
Closing time and date: 13 June 2019
Interviews to be held on: 20 June 2019
About the role:
The role will involve providing comprehensive housing advice with a strong focus on preventing homelessness, seeing customers all the way through the homelessness process. This will include developing personalised housing plans and decision making in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017 and other relevant legislation.
You will be expected to manage your own caseload, including managing customer expectations, assisting customers to take steps to resolve their own housing need, and negotiating with landlords and other partners. You will be used to working with clients with complex needs and dealing effectively with challenging situations. In addition, they would like postholders to focus initially on specific aspects of the role to help them develop a more preventative approach within their housing options service.
About you:
You will be educated to A level standard or have equivalent relevant experience for this role. You must be able to demonstrate knowledge of housing legislation, policy and guidance. You must also have an understanding of the housing sector and current housing/rough sleeping/homelessness issues.
You will have effective communication and negotiation skills, allowing engagement with customers in a demanding environment in order to find housing solutions and will be a confident self-starter who is able to hit the ground running.
You may have experience of the following: Housing Outreach Worker, Housing Worker, Outreach Worker, Housing Officer, Housing Assistant, Housing Advisor, Benefits Advisor, Housing Support Worker, Case Manager, Support Worker, Charity, Third Sector, NFP, etc.
