The Jubilee Sailing Trust (JST) seeks to appoint an outstanding individual as their new Associate Director, Major Gifts.

The JST has a unique mission to give people of mixed abilities and circumstances the freedom to explore their ability, potential and place in the world through inclusive adventures at sea. The Trust delivers its mission with two purpose-built tall ships called Lord Nelson and Tenacious. They are uniquely designed to be sailed by mixed ability crews, including people with a wide variety of physical impairments, intellectual disabilities and health conditions. 

For 40 years the JST has been a pioneering organisation that provides transformative, life-affirming adventures to people who face significant challenges in life. It strives to break down barriers between different communities, building respect, empathy and understanding across social divides. Its vision is of an inclusive world where all can contribute and feel valued.

Reporting directly to the Development Director, the Associate Director, Major Gifts will join a growing Development Team mid-way through a challenging, but exciting, transformational journey and will be responsible for raising the funds required to deliver on the JST’s mission and impact. The post-holder will have a high level of influence over the Trust’s development strategy and work closely with senior stakeholders and the Development Director to maximise opportunities with major donors. S/he will also have oversight of their own donor portfolio and the identification of new donor prospects.

The successful candidate will need to be an entrepreneurial self-starter, who is comfortable taking on a strategic role whilst also being hands-on and self-sufficient. You will need to be confident, courageous and resilient, seeing routine challenges as a catalyst for fresh thinking and innovation.

The charity’s operational base is in Southampton but this role can be based anywhere nationally - there are hubs in London and the North West, or the post could be home-based.
