Job Details

We're looking for a self-motivated individual to join us as a new Legacy Officer and run a demanding caseload of legacies, helping us in the delivery of our ambitious fundraising strategy.

Our Legacy team has had a record breaking year and, as a result, we are growing. In this job you'll be responsible for the day-to-day administration of legacies in accordance with guidelines laid down by the Head of Legacies Management, answering enquiries from solicitors and individuals in connection with potential bequests and assist in all matters relating to the department's work.

You will also have the opportunity to build the BHF's reputation as a good recipient of legacies and increase the BHF's income from bequests.

Almost half of our income comes from people leaving a gift to us in their Will. Charitable legacies are therefore vital to enable us to continue our life-saving research programme to fight cardiovascular disease.

About you

With excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate complex issues clearly and succinctly, you'll have a willingness to learn with previous experience working in a fast paced environment. We are happy to consider applications from candidates who are new to legacies but possess the other skills required for the role.

You'll have excellent IT skills, particularly MS Office and legacy case management software, and have a high level of empathy able to develop strong relationships with colleagues and contacts.

With a willingness to learn on the job, we would welcome applications from those without a legacy or legal background
