Public Affairs Officer
London
£26,000 (inclusive of London Allowance)
Permanent, full time (35 hours per week)
Our client is looking for a passionate individual to join their Public Affairs Team when, for the first time in many years, climate change and loss of biodiversity is a key political issue. This role will help the Trusts to ensure that nature’s recovery is kept at the heart of both the Government’s and the Opposition’s policy and ensure that their members and supporters voices are heard during this time of great uncertainty.
The post will be based in London, close to the Westminster village where decisions about the future are being made on a daily basis, and will help support the Public Affairs Manager to develop relationships with key influencers in Westminster. You will also have the chance to work with other charities and NGOs, as the organisation develops wide ranging support and dynamic and exciting campaigns for an ambitious Environment Act.
Experience and a proven track record of working with MPs, Ministers and MEP’s is advantageous, as is experience of supporting successful advocacy campaigns and fronting policies and programmes. You will have an understanding of the legislative process and parliamentary procedures and an understanding of UK and European wildlife and environmental legislation.
Whilst experience is preferred, our client welcomes applications from graduates who hold a relevant degree and are looking to gain experience in public affairs
This is a time of immense change, when the laws protecting the environment and wildlife are at risk and people are suffering more than ever from a lack of access to nature. Environmental leadership can make a great difference and they are looking for someone to lead on building even greater shared ownership within this movement. They are a grassroots movement of 800,000 members, 43,000 volunteers and 2,800 staff across the UK dedicated to their vision and driven by their beliefs.
They value courage, respect, integrity, trust and responsibility. Whilst they are passionate in promoting their aims, they are not judgemental, and they are inclusive. Society is divided, and the trusts want to reduce, not increase, that division.
Our client is an equal opportunities employer and positively encourages applications from suitably qualified and eligible candidates regardless of sex, race, disability, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion or belief, marital status, or pregnancy and maternity.
