Major Donor Development Manager (London)
Nationwide youth & community charity
Highly competitive salary

Our client seeks to appoint an outstanding individual as their new Major Donor Development Manager (London). The post-holder will have the opportunity to help transform the lives of young people living in some of our most deprived communities who are most at risk of being excluded, becoming disaffected and getting left behind in society.

Our client is a pioneering charity with one simple aim – to build a network of state-of-the-art, 21st century youth facilities to give young people safe and inspiring places to spend time away from home and school. For decades many young people have been neglected and they need our help, now more than ever before. Whether it’s a lack of ambition or qualifications, negative behaviour and attitudes, gang or knife violence, young people need help to find a way out of their predicament. The Youth Zones are designed to give young people somewhere to go, something to do and someone to talk to in their leisure time; occupying their bodies and minds with fun activities, learning new skills and socialising in a safe, positive way.

For each new Youth Zone, the charity undertakes a 3-year fundraising campaign to raise cash or pledges to the value of £3m. This allows a new Zone to be confident of its first 3 years of revenue expenditure. Reporting into the Head of Major Donors, this post will deliver, in the first instance, philanthropic income for London’s very first Youth Zone in Barking & Dagenham. The post-holder will proactively secure philanthropic support by focusing on an intensive founder patron campaign, generating income from a variety of sources but focusing primarily on major gifts from high net worth individuals.

The charity is entrepreneurial by nature, with pace, innovation and resilience in its DNA.  The successful candidate will personally develop major donor relationships that will contribute to its ambition to create 100 Youth Zones across the country over the next generation.

The successful candidate will have experience of personally securing gifts from major donors and a sound understanding of fundraising techniques and processes.  S/he will be resilient, resourceful, proactive and a collaborative team player. S/he will have outstanding and persuasive communication skills with an ability to listen and develop strong working relationships with all senior stakeholders.

No one in the country is doing what this charity is seeking to do, at the scale and pace that they wish to deliver. If you want to play a pivotal part in making dramatic, positive change for young people for an organisation with aspiration, focus and ambition, then this unique and career-building opportunity is for you.
