Deputy Team Leader (Court Services) Witness Service - based at Mansfield Magistrates Court

Department: Witness Service

Hours per week: 18 (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday)

The team

The role you’re applying for is in the Operations directorate and in the Witness Service team.

The Citizens Advice Witness Service provides a vital service offering free and independent support for witnesses in every criminal court across England and Wales.

The role

Our trained volunteers provide practical and emotional support and information to prosecution and defence witnesses in criminal cases.

We are looking for someone with the ability to develop and motivate volunteers and who has administrative skills and is computer literate to a high standard.

As the Deputy Team Leader (Court Services), working alongside Team Leaders you will be responsible for the delivery of the Witness Service within the courts, remote link sites and Witness Service provision. You will share responsibility for the effective coordination and development of the volunteers who support witnesses in their journey through the criminal justice system.

In this role you will also be responsible for general service administrative tasks within the courts, as well as inputting service data.

Experience of the non-profit sector is desirable, but not essential.

Citizens Advice won a grant from the Ministry of Justice to run the Witness Service from April 2015.  The Witness Service has nearly 300 staff and 3000 volunteers and offers free, independent, impartial and confidential support and information to 15,000 witnesses each month to give evidence in every criminal court in England and Wales.

Citizens Advice provide free, independent and impartial advice and information to help people resolve their legal, money and other problems. In the past year we have helped over 2.5 million people solve over 6.2 million problems. Our national network delivers services from over 3,000 locations in England and Wales. In 2015 we won Charity Times Charity of the Year for our work. Now we want to do even more.

Citizens Advice values diversity, promotes equality and challenges discrimination. We encourage and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds. We particularly welcome applications from people with disabilities and people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic groups, as they are currently under represented in our workforce.
