Position: Social Media Manager

Location: London

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: circa £38,000 per annum (including £3,299 inner London weighting)

Contract: Permanent

You’ll be able to spot the conversation starter from across the organisation, and understand how to leverage social networks to enhance our charity’s profile. You’ll work closely with the other content experts in the team managing the schedule for activity alongside existing planned content, search engine optimisation and email marketing activity and will also contribute to regular analysis reports.

With your strong collaborative approach and strategic ideas about how best to engage target audiences to drive action, you will have the motivation and enthusiasm to help achieve a step-change in their approach to digital activity. You’ll have a flair for engaging and leading not just people but activities and content with your naturally strategic mind, and when working with senior stakeholders you’ll be able to persuade, present and win people over with sound and valid commercial reasoning for your recommendations on what is best and why. You will be able to work with people from different disciplines with different agendas. You understand that different voices need to be heard, but you can still bring people together.

The Social Media Manager is a member of the Marketing and External Affairs Directorate based in London. The role sits within the PR and Communications function. The post holder will be working in a challenging but lively environment and will be required to undertake a variety of hands on and strategic duties within this high-performing team. This high-profile role reflects the views of the organisation and needs to create, manage and deliver social media campaigns and activity to optimise our audience interactions. This post has a significant responsibility in being the very public face of the organisation.


  • To work with the Deputy Director PR & Comms and contribute to finalising a Corporate Social Media Strategy which you will be responsible for delivering, monitoring and reporting on the impact of all social media activity.
  • To be responsible for managing content for the social media channels and monitoring performance against objectives.
  • Managing the charity’s reputation and presence across the charity’s key social media channels.


Reporting to the Deputy Director PR & Comms, the Social Media Manager will manage one officer and join the wider PR & Comms team to plan, create and deliver audience-focussed content and activities that help achieve our clients corporate strategic objectives.

You may also have experience in roles such as Social Media Officer, Media Relations Manager, Digital Communications Manager, Senior Social Media Executive, Digital Marketing, Marketing Manager.
