Our client is looking for an innovative, passionate and professional individual with relevant counselling/Psychotherapy qualifications to join their Stroke Recovery Service team in Liverpool.

It happens every five minutes in the UK and changes lives instantly. Recovery is tough, but with the right specialist support and a ton of courage and determination, the brain can adapt.

Our client provides specialist support, fund critical research and campaign to make sure people affected by stroke get the very best care and support to rebuild their lives.

Position: Stroke Support Coordinator - Emotional Support

Location: Liverpool (office based)

Hours: 21 hours per week

Salary: circa £15,500 per annum

Contract: Permanent (their services are contracted, they currently have funding for this contract until 31 March 2020)

The psychological impact of stroke can be devastating and their Emotional Support Service aims to improve the emotional wellbeing of both stroke survivors and carers.

Reporting to the Support Manager, the Stroke Support Coordinator - Emotional Support will deliver counselling sessions to stroke survivors and their family members. You’ll work collaboratively with health professionals including Clinical Psychology.

This role will require you to:

  • Have an expert knowledge of delivering best counselling practice and be capable of working in a complex and challenging environment.
  • Have a background of working with people with a disability or long term health condition.
  • Hold a Diploma in integrative, humanistic or person-centred counselling/psychotherapy with BACP registration/accreditation (COSCA Accreditation also applicable for Scotland).

You will display a flexible approach with excellent planning, communication and organisational skills and who will be willing to take an active role in the development of the service.

The use of a car with business use cover and the ability to drive is essential to be able to fulfil the requirements of the role.

You may also have experience in roles such as Counsellor, Counselling, Stroke Worker, Stroke Support.
