Senior Campaigns Manager
Pancreatic cancer is a tough one but we’re taking it on. We are supporting those affected by the disease, investing in ground-breaking research, lobbying for greater recognition of pancreatic cancer and being a voice for everyone involved in the fight. Together we are taking on pancreatic cancer.
The Policy and Campaigns Team at Pancreatic Cancer UK covers public affairs, policy, campaigning and maintaining the intelligence function for the organisation. We are a small team performing a critical role within the organisation and are helping to change the unacceptable outcomes and experience of people with pancreatic cancer by lobbying for change, and providing evidence-based solutions that can be implemented across the UK.
You will be joining the team after a very busy and successful year, which saw us engaging key stakeholders across the UK with our Demand Faster Treatment campaign, which achieved the support of over 100,000 people across the UK.
Your role is to help to shape and implement the organisation’s campaigns strategy and to ensure that campaigning as a function grows and flourishes, including mobilising people across the country to take local actions to improve pancreatic cancer.
You will share your expertise on campaigning across the charity to ensure that we are mobilising our supporters to best effect.
You will be passionate about seeing change happen by developing compelling theories of change and you will also bring strong project management skills to ensure that campaigns are successful.
Your role within the Policy and Campaigns team is to amplify existing influencing activities through public driven campaigns.
This will be the first dedicated campaigns role for the charity, following a very successful campaign in 2018. You will have the opportunity to shape campaigns as a function for Pancreatic Cancer UK and to enthuse and educate colleagues about campaigning. You will help to develop theories of change for our campaigning activity to give us the best chance of driving change and achieving our goals to improve outcomes for pancreatic cancer. The campaigns you develop will raise the profile of pancreatic cancer and our organisation as well as mobilise and attract supporters. As the holder of campaigning expertise across the organisation you will share your insight with others, adding value to their mobilisation activities.
This critical first dedicated campaigning role will provide the organisation with the capacity to manage and sustain campaigns as well as ensuring that we can engage and involve our committed supporters in what we do, creating greater campaigning involvement and campaigning opportunities at a national and local level. We are passionate about involvement and in everything you do, you will ensure that our campaigns are informed by and represent those who are directly affected by pancreatic cancer.
This role will require significant work with other departments, ensuring campaigning activities are integrated with the fundraising supporter journey, with our communication team’s engagement and communication plans, as well as the digital team’s plans for social media channels. You will also ensure that our campaigns support the organisation’s policy and public affairs aims and objectives and are evidence-based.
You will be an excellent team player, able to both lead and unite colleagues in new ideas and projects, and to support their existing plans. You will have a track record of developing and executing effective evidence-based campaigns based on your understanding and experience of social change. You will understand the relationship between supporter engagement and campaigning/influencing to achieve both campaigning and fundraising objectives. You will bring excellent project management, planning and communication skills but be able to capitalise on opportunities as they occur.
