Senior Communications Officer (Campaigns and Internal Communications) 

Our client is the UK’s largest provider of specialist services for victims of all forms of gender-based violence (domestic, sexual, so called ‘honour’ violence, trafficking, prostitution, forced marriage, stalking and FGM). Every day then support over 6,500 women and children in their national network of services. These include Independent Domestic, Sexual and Gender-based Violence Advocacy services (IDVAs / ISVAs and IGVAs), community outreach, specialist refuge accommodation, sanctuary services and culturally-specific services and the Freephone 24 Hour National Domestic Violence Helpline (run in partnership between our client and another charity). 

They advise Government and lobby hard to keep violence against women and girls high on the public agenda. They run award-winning prevention and public education campaigns, managing a busy press office and website, and they are an accredited training provider. They give a voice to the voiceless. 

Position: Senior Communications Officer 
Location: Head Office, London 
Job type: Full Time, Permanent 
Hours: 37.5 hours per week 
Salary: circa £35,000 per annum

About the role: 

Our client’s small communications team covers a wide-ranging remit of work spanning reactive and proactive national and regional press, integrated campaigns, internal communications, our clients website, social media, newsletters and service literature. This is a great chance to join this busy team in a new role and make a real impact in reaching out to women and children who experience abuse and bringing about change to end violence against women and girls. 

They are looking for an experienced Senior Communications Officer (Campaigns and Internal Communications) with excellent writing skills, news and political judgement, and proven campaigns delivery. The post-holder will deliver integrated, proactive campaigns - supporting policy, public awareness, communications and fundraising - around key VAWG issues. 

Responsibilities: 

This post will also be responsible for supporting the development and roll out of an internal programme of communications across our client's base of 300+ staff. The role will also involve the production of content for newsletters, social media and the website, ideally including audio-visual materials and graphics. 

They work in an exciting and fast-paced environment, collaborating closely with the Policy, Fundraising and Operations teams to identify opportunities and sector trends and coordinate work on these across departments. 

About you: 

The successful applicant will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience within the field of communications and campaigns, undertaking high-profile work with proven results. You will have the ability to strategically prioritise requests and manage a complex workload with competing demands.
