The English Province of the Order of Preachers is a registered charity and is part of an international religious order in the Catholic Church. The charity covers six sites in England and Scotland, and includes Blackfriars Hall, part of the University of Oxford.

The role of Finance Manager is a newly-created post, taking over from one of the friars the day-to-day management of centralised accounting. You will be responsible for:

  • Providing key financial information to the Provincial Bursar, local superiors and the trustee board
  • Timely production of quarterly management accounts and end-of-year reports
  • Assisting the Provincial Bursar and local superiors with the preparation of annual budgets
  • Production of statutory accounts and liaison with auditors
  • Monthly payroll and reporting to HMRC
  • Management of bank balances and credit card facilities

The ideal candidate:

  • Has a recognised accountancy qualification
  • Has experience in a mid-level or senior finance role
  • Has experience managing payroll for a charity or SME
  • Is highly computer literate with excellent skills in Excel and accounting software
  • Is highly organised and self-motivated
  • Is skilled in communicating financial information to non-experts
  • Works well as part of a small, friendly team
  • Is tactful, diplomatic and discreet

There is no religious requirement for the role, but the ideal candidate will be sensitive to our Catholic ethos.
