EXECUTIVE HEAD OF DEVELOPMENT – IMPERIAL WAR MUSEUMS

Attractive salary package

London SE1

Imperial War Museums, one of the world’s leading authorities on conflict and its impact on people’s lives from 1914 to the present day and beyond, has an ambitious vision to further the success of IWM by developing new and sustainable initiatives to increase unrestricted revenue in support of its long term plan.  Following the successful multi-million pound capital appeal for Phase Two of its Regeneration programme, the Museum is now looking ahead to achieve its strategic objectives over the next 10 years across all of its activities and branches.

As an ambassador for IWM in all aspects of its work, the new Executive Head of Development will be an exceptional individual who can develop a clear strategy for fundraising to support the ambition of the organisation and develop appropriate programmes of activity to support this.

The key responsibilities for this role are:

  • Cultivate effective internal and external relationships beneficial to fundraising, particular with high net worth individuals and corporates
  • Lead on prospect research and stewardship of donors
  • Engage with the digital transformation programme and CRM to maximise engagement opportunities
  • Develop international fundraising opportunities, working with the American Foundation trustees
  • Liaise with the American Air Museum fundraising teams to ensure there is a cohesive approach to the fundraising strategy
  • Be an active and effective part of the Senior Management Team as the key advisor to the Director General and Executive Director of Collections & Governance on fundraising matters

IWM consistently focuses on delivering excellent customer service, ensuring value for money whilst being professional and courteous, qualities that make IWM such an extraordinary place to work.  The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong track record of managing an experienced fundraising team, ideally in the cultural sector, and be able to take the lead in establishing an outcome-orientated organisation.  You will initiate and establish local, national and international networks whilst encouraging diversity through productive collaboration at all levels.  An understanding and appreciation of the work of Imperial War Museums will add depth of commitment to this key appointment.

Some feedback from a candidate we have successfully placed:

“Now I have been in my new post for a week, I feel I must write to you to commend you on both the recruitment process I have just undergone and the personal support I have received. I could not have expected a better experience of a recruitment process - and even had I not been appointed I would have written in the same vein. I can understand why Charisma was recommended to me by a friend and I will certainly do the same in the future.”
