Service Development Manager (Maternity Cover)

Citizens Advice offers confidential advice online, over the phone, and in person, for free. Through our national network of charities, we give people the knowledge and the confidence they need to find their way forward – whoever they are, and whatever their problem.

We are looking to recruit to the post of Service Development Manager. The successful candidate will join a dynamic project management team within Citizens Advice.  The team is responsible for delivering a multi-million pound debt advice contract, which involves around 350 debt advisers based in around 135 advice agencies across England and Wales.  We work with these advice agencies to deliver free, high quality debt advice to people that need it.

As Service Development Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team on the successful development of the project by monitoring and improving the quality of debt advice delivered by advice agencies, implementing new Citizens Advice, funder and sector led initiatives and ensuring the advice remains accessible to specified client groups as identified by the funder. You will act as the relationship holder with key stakeholders in the sector particularly on the delivery of the Debt Advice Peer Assessment process and will already have a proven ability to lead and motivate a professional staff team to support and deliver change.

The post will also require a proven ability in service and/or policy development,  including an understanding of quality assurance and processes, excellent interpersonal skills and be proficient in networking and liaison with key internal and external stakeholders.  This busy and varied role will not only test your influencing and negotiating skills, but provide the opportunity to work with a variety of organisations and individuals.  The ability to work as part of a team is essential.

We particularly welcome applications from disabled and Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) candidates as BAME and disabled people are currently under-represented throughout Citizens Advice. We are a member of the race equality campaign at Business in the Community, the Prince’s responsible business network and are committed to improving employment opportunities for ethnic minorities across the UK. We also welcome applications from, LGB and Trans and non binary candidates.

We have made a positive commitment to employing disabled people and guarantee to interview all disabled candidates who meet the minimum essential criteria for the role as set out in role profiles.
