Deputy Director, Development
Russell Group University
£60,997 - £76,247
Our client seeks an exceptional individual for this key fundraising and leadership position within the University’s Division of Development and Alumni Relations (DDAR). The post-holder will shape, drive and lead a bold strategy for major giving, regular giving, communications and stewardship, working across the fabric of the University to identify and create compelling philanthropic priorities.
Our Client is part of the prestigious Russell Group of British research universities and is the product of the civic university movement of the late-19th century. With 25 Nobel Prize winners among its current and former staff and students, it has a history of world firsts and brilliant discoveries, from splitting the atom, to the first stored-program computers, to giving the world the brand-new wonder material, ‘graphene’. The University’s vision is to be one of the leading universities in the world by 2020 through its commitment to world-class research, outstanding learning and student experience, and social responsibility.
Development and Alumni Engagement are an integral part of the university today. The President & Vice Chancellor recognises the enormous value alumni and donors can bring to the University, not only through their generous financial support and investment but with their expertise, time and influence.
Reporting to the Director of Development & Alumni Relations, the Deputy Director, Development will drive and manage strategic, consistent and bespoke engagement with donors. Managing four direct reports with a wider team of 27, the postholder will have regular and meaningful interaction with the University’s most senior internal stakeholders, including the President & Vice Chancellor, Vice Presidents, Deans and senior academic colleagues.
The successful candidate will be a creative thinker with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to influence at a senior level. S/he a proven track record of securing major donations at the seven-figure level and a passion for Higher Education and the multitude of causes that DDAR will ultimately fund.
This is a chance to shape the strategic direction of fundraising at the University, in the context of strong visibility and a supportive and committed senior leadership team.
A reduced working week, flexible hours and a portion of home working are all possibilities for outstanding candidates.
