English and Personal Social Development Tutor
Our client is a small, local charity that has been making a real difference to children, young people and adults in London for more than 30 years. One of the services they provide is a further education project, designed for young people aged 16 - 25 with mild to moderate learning difficulties and autism. They are now recruiting for an experienced, passionate English and Personal Social Development Tutor to work as part of their supportive further education project.
Our client's new Tutor will lead weekly English and Literacy sessions, as well as weekly Personal Social Development sessions, taking responsibility for overall classroom management (both learners and support staff). The Tutor will support learners in setting and achieving targets in their individual learning programmes, and will work collaboratively with the Course Leader to support the pastoral needs of all learners.
The ideal candidate for this role will have extensive knowledge and experience of working with young people or adults with learning difficulties, identifying their barriers to learning and working towards a range of outcomes. You will have a relevant professional or vocational qualification, and experience of teaching Functional Skills English or Literacy. Overall you will be personable, enthusiastic and passionate about improving outcomes for vulnerable young people with learning disabilities.
This is initially a temporary role, starting asap until July 2019
