Practitioner (School Home Support) - Economic Wellbeing Specialist

Employer
CHM
Location
Tower Hamlets
Salary
£120 per day
Closing date
6 May 2019

This organisation is a dynamic charity with proven impact. For over 30 years it has been working with children and young people struggling to stay in school due to a wide range of complex family issues. They get children and young people back into school ready to learn, whatever it takes.

Through a mixture of growth and staff turnover we now require the following posts:

School-Home Support Practitioner

Location: Tower Hamlets

Part time role, 2 days per week
Fixed term contract to start asap,
ending on 31st December 2019
£120 per day

The post-holder will be working with parents to tackle poverty in Tower Hamlets.

Economic Wellbeing Clinics will be held in three partner schools and  include weekly half-day and full-day clinics and twilight clinics to allow working families to attend. This is a new and exciting role for the organisation. The successful candidate will need to be able to demonstrate strong experience of working effectively to improve the economic wellbeing of the most disadvantaged families facing poverty challenges by making changes to their lives before they reach crisis point. This will be done by giving tailored support to individuals and by running group sessions.

The post-holder will work with families with access to benefits and will help them to navigate changes made in the benefits system as well as helping families to address housing issues, in developing their skills around money management, and in maximising income through available benefits. For those parents who have been out of work for an extended period of time, a lack of confidence and experience can deter them from seeking employment.

The post–holder will work with these families to give encouragement to develop employment related skills and to gain relevant experience in order for them to grow their confidence in order to form professional partnerships both within their settings and with other agencies.

Closing date for applications is: 6 May
First Stage Interviews will be held on: 13 May
