Created in 2016, ESSA is advocating and actively working for more systematic cooperation and investment in the Tertiary Education space. Our aim is to join up, inform, inspire and increase impact for everyone investing in education in sub-Saharan Africa. With a billion more people on the continent within a generation, quality Tertiary Education will be a main driver of socio-economic transformation, if young people can find or create work and if their education allows them to do so. 

Director of Finance, Operations and HR

We are now transitioning from start-up to scale-up phase and are seeking a Director of Finance, Operations and HR to join our growing team.  You will be responsible for developing and leading our finance, operations and people functions, ensuring a strategic and nimble approach suitable for a fast growing, international organisation seeking substantial social impact.

To be considered, you will be a fully qualified (UK body) accountant with experience in leadership roles that include a broader organisation scope. With excellent attention to detail as well as a strategic and analytical mindset, you will ensure that ESSA has strong capabilities and is able to deliver a step change for education in sub-Saharan Africa. You have excellent communication skills, work at pace, and thrive in a collaborative start-up environment.

Fluent written and spoken English is essential; a working knowledge of French is highly desirable; a willingness and ability to travel internationally is essential.
