Education Families and Youth Officer
Reference number: A0010419
Location: Cardiff
Salary starting at: £19,602 to £21,236 per annum
Hours: Full time
Contract: Permanent

This job is for you if you love the buzz of a busy project as much as you love nature. You'll be keen to share your enthusiasm for the natural world with children and families, whilst professionally representing this charity and working closely with their project partners, City of Cardiff Council and Buglife.

You'll be responsible for delivering free outreach sessions in primary schools and early years settings across Cardiff. These sessions encourage children to enjoy nature in their school grounds and inspire them to discover more. You'll spend most of your time out and about in schools, however you will also manage school bookings and run their Cardiff Wildlife Detectives club, which is a wildlife club for families that meets on a weekend day once a month. You'll be part of an enthusiastic team of staff and volunteers, including their School Session Leader Volunteers whom you'll be responsible for leading.

Alongside the delivery of the school outreach work in Cardiff, you'll support wider engagement work with children across Wales. This will involve helping to create and deliver exciting experiences to engage children with nature through public events and at this charity's reserves.

You'll have an impressive track record of getting things done and an excellent eye for detail to ensure all work is delivered to a consistently high standard. You'll be confident and charismatic and able to lead and inspire staff and volunteers, proactive at working across multiple departments, an excellent team player and well organised to ensure tasks are completed on time.

You'll have experience in planning, delivering and managing formal and informal learning experiences for children. This includes the setup and breakdown of activities, building long-term relationships with schools and planning activities in line with the organisation's objectives.

The ability to work in Welsh as well as English is essential for this post.
