Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) is a national charity committed to providing life-transforming services that enable disabled people increase their independence and achieve their goals in life.  With over 80 years of expertise, we are at an exciting stage of our development and are looking to appoint a Residential Service Manager to lead one of our key services and help shape its future.

Our Independent Living Service aims to give young adults with complex disabilities the experience, skills and information they need to achieve more independent living.  Next year this service will move to our new state of the art care and rehabilitation centre which will provide vital support for adults with physical and learning disabilities, including rehabilitation from acquired brain injury and stroke.  

Job Purpose

  • To lead, manage and develop the delivery of person-centred care and support in our residential care service for adults with complex disabilities.
  • To deliver a quality service in line with CQC requirements, ensuring the service is successful and financially viable.
  • To transition the service to a new environment as part of an exciting organisational change programme. 

The role

  • Ensure the service meets all legislative and organisational standards and good practice guidance though operational knowledge and effective quality management.
  • Solve problems that may be complex, including adult protection, and provide action plans to resolve issues raised through internal and external inspections.
  • Lead, direct, supervise and support staff working in the service to ensure high levels of employee engagement.
  • Develop and motivate staff through leading by example, promoting team work and developing a learning culture to ensure high levels of performance.
  • Manage and monitor the operational budget and manage resources to get the best value for money.
  • Provide on call cover as required.

  • You will have knowledge and expertise of Health and Social Care regulations and working with people with different needs and complexity.
  • Your passion for the delivery of high quality care which fosters independence will inspire others to follow your example.
  • You remain calm under pressure and relish the challenges of change, seeking to inspire and bring people with you.
  • You collaborate with others, communicate ideas and work well in a team.
  • You are ambitious and committed to your own personal development and ensure others maximise their potential to improve the overall performance of the service.
