Care Support Worker
Every day, 12 children and young people in the UK hear the shocking news they have cancer. Our client is the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families, offering them care and support every step of the way. You can be a part of helping them live their life to the full.
Position: Care Support Worker
Location: Cambridge, Addenbrooke's Hospital
Job type: Part Time, Permanent
Hours: 21 hours per week
Salary: £19,954.00 per annum (FTE)
Closing Date: 29 April 2019

About the role:
This is an exciting opportunity to join their established Social Care Team, at Addenbrookes Hospital Cambridge, providing services and support to children and young adults with cancer. Their team includes Paediatric Social Workers, Young Peoples Social Workers and a Community Worker for Young People.
You will be expected to support the team with a high standard of administration, to help Social Workers provide day to day assistance for service users and to plan and organise events and activities. You will have some contact with children, young people and families, completing registrations and grant applications, providing information and assistance with accessing appropriate services. You will also help us to maintain their database and contribute to collecting and presenting data for reports and evaluations.
About you:
You will need to have a good standard of literacy and numeracy, have experience of an administrative role and experience of working with children and families. You will be highly organised and efficient. You will also have the sensitivity and confidence to respond to young people and families when they may be experiencing great distress.
It is desirable that you have some experience of working in a similar setting and that you have an understanding of the impact of cancer or serious illness.
All applicants should have excellent interpersonal skills.
