Head of Finance and Business Services
Reporting to: Chief Executive Officer
Location: London, SE1
Status: Part-time, flexible working, permanent
Salary: £55k - £60k pro rata
This is a unique opportunity to work for the professional body of the worldwide industries of brewing and distilling. With members in 90 countries and a turnover of £2.7m, its qualifications are regarded as the gold standard for the scientific and technical knowledge needed to make safe, consistently excellent products.
A forward thinking and positive individual is required to support the CEO in delivering ambitious goals during a period of significant change for the Institute. You will develop and grow the provision of a financial and business services function, accountable for finance, facilities, HR & IT.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completion of period end financial and management accounts and compliance requirements, plus presentation of results to the board
- Financial analysis and month end reporting
- Internal lead for audit
- Management and responsibility for financial processing
- Revenue and P&L forecasts; Cashflow forecasting; VAT returns; foreign exchange transactions and management of restricted and designated funds.
- Oversee payroll and pension management
- Management of business and finance systems
- Liaison with external HR support
- Oversee facilities maintenance and development
Key experience requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA) with sound accounting and finance practices – financial compliance activities and management accounting performance review and analysis.
- Commercially aware and with the ability to identify opportunities and lead on strategic initiatives.
- An international perspective and experience of managing foreign exchange transactions
- Experience of finance for a UK charity is desirable with a strong knowledge of SORP
- Strong IT systems and process experience – demonstrable experience in driving process improvements.
- Experience of managing an outsourced HR function is desirable.
