Our vision is a world where everyone has access to affordable and reliable renewable energy and low carbon technologies - for the benefit of our environment, our communities and the UK public.

The Microgeneration Certification Scheme was originally set up by the UK Government in 2008 and has now been made independent in line with the government strategy of enabling the renewables market to be sustainable long-term. The scheme has played an important part in the growth of the installation of renewables in homes and small businesses in the UK. It is a mark of quality and demonstrates compliance to industry standards.

The newly established and independent grant making MCS Foundation is the sole shareholder of MSC and will receive a percentage of the annual profits, which it will award in line with its charitable objectives.

Our aim is to protect and conserve the environment, by increasing confidence and awareness amongst the UK public of the value of renewables and low carbon technology.

The Trustees are seeking to appoint the first Chief Executive to lead the Foundation through its start-up phase to establish a robust grant giving, monitoring and impact evaluation framework alongside the governance structures necessary for legal compliance.

The role is home-based, but a regular presence in London and travel within the UK is anticipated in order to develop profile and network effectively with key stakeholders. To be able to represent the Foundation externally, you will have experience or a strong personal interest in the renewable energy sector. 

Experience of charitable grant making or of managing grants received will be essential.
