This a highly rewarding role which can dramatically improve educational outcomes for the children of low income and vulnerable families and improve parenting skills. It is an exciting opportunity to be involved in a new early years home learning programme in South Yorkshire which is part of a research project and the South Yorkshire Futures programme (led by Sheffield Hallam University). It is funded by the Education Endowment Foundation.

We are currently seeking eight Early Learning Home Visitors to work in a team (led by the Coordinator in each city) to deliver ParentChild+ across South Yorkshire. In your team, you will deliver the home learning service to 40 vulnerable and low income families in your area. You will work closely with Early Years practitioners in the Local Authority.

ParentChild+ has been delivered in America for over 50 years, working one-to-one with families who face significant life challenges. The model is based on twice-weekly home visits, for at least 46 weeks, by Early Learning Home Visitors. It addresses a range of outcomes for parents whose children are at risk of starting school below the expected level, by offering free books and toys and modelling how to create a rich home learning environment and prepare children for school.

The successful candidate must have experience of working with pre-school children and supporting their parents. You should be able to build good relationships, have excellent organisational skills, be proficient in keeping records and entering data and have good written and verbal communication. Commitment to equality of opportunity is essential. You will work flexibly, should have a suitable home working environment and be able to easily travel around your area of work (to several locations each day).

The successful candidate is required to have Level 3 or equivalent qualification in childcare.
