This is an exciting and rewarding opportunity to join an innovative organisation, whose mission is to empower young role models to help children from disadvantaged communities succeed in school.

Our client is a youth social action charity which challenges 18 to 25-year-olds to tackle educational inequality through a year of full-time social action. As mentors, tutors and role models in schools, they support pupils growing up in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the UK.

Position: Volunteer Recruitment Officer

Location: London

Salary: £18,000 - 21,000

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 35 per week

Benefits: Potential for flexible working from the beginning of employment. Up to 5% pension employer contribution, 28 days holiday per year plus one additional day per year after two years of employment, capped at a maximum of 31 days. Interest-free loan for season ticket or bicycle. 2 volunteer days per year.

Interviews: 7th and 8th May first stage and week commencing 13th May second stage

The Role

The Volunteer Recruitment Officer will work towards delivering a high-quality cohort of high-quality volunteers for the City Year UK Programme. You will source exceptional candidates who are motivated to drive and shape social change.

You will contribute to delivering an efficient and effective end to end recruitment service, supporting the selection and onboarding processes. Working with colleges, universities and aligned organisations, the Volunteer Recruitment Officer will coordinate and deliver information sessions and workshops, internally and externally.

So far 779 young people have given over 1.25 million hours to support pupils across 47 schools. In the last academic year, 138 volunteer mentors completed their City Year. This role will enable you to contribute to this fantastic cause by recruiting these exceptional volunteers!

About You

To be successful in this role you will need to be passionate about social change and serving a great cause. As the Volunteer Recruitment Officer you will strive for excellence and support the core vision and values of the organisation. As you engage idealistic young people, you will confidently and competently promote the opportunity to volunteer with our client. Working to continuously improve the recruitment process and logistics by being highly organised and detail-oriented, with a proven ability to implement a plan efficiently and effectively. You will be happy travelling across the local area to recruitment events during peak season.

You will have experience of working with and influencing a range of stakeholders, as well as the ability to pitch to an external audience and a confident telephone manner. You will need some understanding of volunteering, the education sector and the third sector.

This post is classified as having substantial access to children, and the appointment is subject to an enhanced police check of previous criminal convictions (DBS).

Other areas of experience may include Volunteer Coordinator, Recruitment Coordinator, Recruitment Assistant, Internal Recruiter.
