We have a superb opportunity for a Head of Business Strategy and Programme Management to join our client's Resources department. You will make a significant contribution to the success of their aim to radically improve the welfare and elevate the status of donkeys and mules across the world
Our client is one of the UK’s largest international animal welfare charities, currently supporting projects that transform the quality of life for donkeys, mules and people in over 35 countries worldwide.
Position: Head of Business Strategy and Programme Management
Location: Sidmouth, Devon – “an area of outstanding natural beauty”
Salary: Up to £65,000 per annum, depending upon relevant skills and experience.
Duration: Permanent full-time, working 35 hours per week
Hours: Monday – Friday, 08.30 – 16.30

This increases by one day each year until a maximum of 34 days is reached.

The Role
These are exciting times for the charity. Continual improvement of their information, its accuracy and collection and applying the most appropriate methodologies for managing programmes is key to the delivery of their 5-year strategy. The Head of Business Strategy and Programme Management will work closely with the Executive Team ensuring decisions lead to the fulfilment of strategic objectives, priorities and business outcomes through the delivery of programmes and projects.
You will be responsible for ensuring that programme sponsors report effectively to management and the board of trustees and that the efficacy and impact of their day to day activity, is adequately reflected in a suite of performance dashboards that effectively and accurately monitor progress and performance. You will ensure that programmes of work are measured in terms of value for money, time and quality, but most of all that they are delivered successfully.
About You
As Head of Business Strategy and Programme Management you will:
- Have experience of successfully managing and delivering a range of concurrent projects.
- Have excellent relationship building, collaborative and mediation skills.
- Be able to demonstrate well developed leadership and management skills and experience.
- Be a positive ambassador for change, promoting the generation of new ideas and opportunities to improve structures and processes across the charity, actively inspiring and influencing others through your example.
- Have experience of successfully delivering a range of complex business initiatives, change programmes and implementing performance measurement systems.
- Experience of programme and project level financial management.
- Have excellent organisational, communication, influencing and motivational skills.
Experience of working in the not for profit sector and of working on global projects and programmes is desirable, but not essential.
