Senior Communications Officer

Hours: 36 hours per week
Salary: £30,000 per annum
Benefits: 25 days annual leave, up to 10% employer's pension contribution

About the role:

We are looking for a dynamic, self-motivated communications professional to join our busy and growing communications and content team. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years’ experience in a media relations or public affairs role in a public sector, third sector or professional membership organisation. Knowledge of and interest in government, policy and / or public services would be a distinct advantage.

Responsibilities:

- Develop and implement press and public affairs strategies to promote the organisation's voice and thought leadership.
- Shape media messages, drafting press releases, statements and articles.
- Respond to media inquiries and Identify opportunities for comment.
- Help manage and maintain our relationships with key stakeholders in government, parliament, the devolved assemblies and the wider policy-making world.
- Support senior staff and council members by preparing briefing material and speeches.

About You:

- Qualified to degree level or equivalent
- Experience of working in a busy press and/or public affairs environment.
- Experience of dealing with the media – preferably at a national and international level.
- Experience of formulating and delivering robust communication plans, objectives and strategy using a range of communication channels.
- Ability to use a range of Social Media channels.
- Good organisation and project management skills.
