Awards Programme Officer

They have strong links with the people teaching and practising chemistry in schools, colleges, universities and industry. They are the biggest non-governmental investor in chemistry education in the UK, they accredit over 95 per cent of chemistry degrees in the UK and Ireland, they support over 300 small and medium sized companies in the chemical sciences and they are a powerful advocate for the chemical sciences at the government level influencing science, education and innovation policy. 

Position: Awards Programme Officer 
Location: Cambridge (Commutable from Alconbury, Bedford, Bury St Edmunds, Cambridgeshire, Cambridge North, Cherry Hinton, Chesterton, Ely, Fen Drayton, Fenstanton, Histon & Impington, Hitchin, Huntingdon, Longstanton, Milton, Newmarket, Northstowe, Oakington, Orchard-Park, Royston, Saffron Walden, Somersham, St Ives, St Neots, Stevenage, Swavesey, Waterbeach, Wyton and surrounding areas) 
Job type: Full Time, 18 Months Contract 
Hours: 35 hours per week 
Salary: £29,779 to £33,088 per annum, plus benefits

About the role: 

Our client seeks an Awards Programme Officer to join them on a full-time (35-hour week) temporary basis for eighteen months, based at their Science Park Cambridge office (free onsite parking and close to the guided busway and Cambridge North railway station). 

As Awards Programme Officer, you will support a range of activities, with a particular focus on their Prizes and Awards Programme, providing support also for their grants and conferences. This includes coordinating nomination and selection processes as well as meetings and events. 

Following a comprehensive review of their programmes to recognise excellence and achievements in the chemical sciences, you will be part of a team working to implement recommendations to shape the future of our client's prizes, awards and other forms of recognition. 

About you: 

- Background in science and / or science programme management and administration. 
- Strong project and time management skills. 
- Ability to deliver multiple projects in parallel and involving internal and external stakeholders. 
- Customer focussed approach with excellent interpersonal skills and commitment to continuous improvement. 
- Demonstrable ability to work both as part of multifunctional teams and independently. 
- Strong written and oral communication skills. 
- Good IT skills and abilities. 

Desirable: 

- Background in or awareness of aspects of the research and innovation environment e.g. research funding, higher education reform, public engagement with science, science and the economy. 
- Experience interacting with people at a variety of levels in different sectors.
