Head of Impact & Evaluation

Our client is looking for an inspirational senior researcher to lead their Impact & Learning team as their Head of Impact & Evaluation

Founded in 1911, they provide young people aged 8-25 with high quality services, delivered through a network of locally accessible youth organisations across the UK. Together they offer support, advice and training to over 1.5 million young people to equip them with skills for the future and help them engage in education, volunteering and employment. Their mission is to provide access to appropriate, high quality services for young people in every community so that all young people are empowered to build bright futures, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Their work engages young people most in need of support with 86% of the young people on their programmes facing at least one barrier to progress and over half living in some of the most deprived areas of the UK. Thanks to high quality youth work delivered by a trusted adult in a local safe space, 64% of their young people report improved key life skills after engaging with their skills development programmes.

Reporting to the Deputy CEO, this role is an exciting opportunity for someone able to lead a team in real-world research work in helping to understand and improve the impact of them and youth work overall.

In this varied and stretching role, you will work with all parts of them and the wider sector – from senior internal colleagues, to their members and wider sector partners, to major funders, to your team of researchers – to lead and implement their impact and learning strategy.

You will be at ensuring their team is at the forefront of applying clear and strong research principles to the complex and real-life work of changing young people’s lives.

The ideal individual will have demonstrable experience of leading real-life research and impact evaluation in the youth sector, demonstrable ability to be adaptable to the realities of a dynamic and busy organisation, and believe that clear plans and knowledge of what works – not good intentions and good ideas – are necessary to change lives.

This role offers the chance to make a difference to the lives of thousands of young people through the understanding, the articulation and improvement of their activity and delivery.

They offer a salary of between £38,000- £48,000. Additional benefits include 27 days annual leave plus bank holidays, a pension scheme (currently they match employee contributions up to 5%), a life insurance scheme which would pay out up to 4 times your salary and 15% off at Cotswold Outdoor, Snow+Rock, Runners Need and Cycle Surgery.

They are committed to investing in the personal and professional development of everyone with them. Every staff member is entitled to 1 days paid development per calendar year in addition to the 2 days charity wide staff training days as well as volunteering leave one full day or two half days per calendar year. They also offer an Employee Assistance programme to support employees both professionally and personally

They are a flexible employer and will to consider applicants applying for this role on working on a part time, flexible basis or job share basis, this will be subject to operation need. Occasional evening and weekend work will be required as part of this role.

In return for your expertise, experience, initiative and drive, they can offer you a friendly, supportive, vibrant environment, and interesting work within an ambitious charity with a proud history and an exciting future.

To apply you will need to forward your CV and two page supporting statement. Once you complete this online application you will receive and email with further information. Applications without a supporting statement will not be considered.

Your supporting statement must explain your motivation and interest in this specific role, provide evidence as to how you meet the criteria in the person specification and state your salary expectations.. Full details of the role can be found in the person specification below
