Onchocerciasis Elimination Mapping Intern
Job title: Onchocerciasis Elimination Mapping Intern
Office Location: Haywards Heath
Contract: 6 month fixed term contract
This role will give the successful post holder an excellent kick-start to their career, offering learning and development opportunities with the NTD’s Department.
The responsibilities of the role will include support in maintaining communications tracking systems, minute taking and Powerpoint development. You will provide sense checking of documentation and data, collate reports as applicable for donor and management reporting, as well as helping to produce final copies of documents.
Sightsavers has been bringing together essential building blocks to build stronger standardized systems for the scale-up of mapping in ivermectin naïve areas where transmission of onchocerciasis is likely or suspected. The overarching focus of the team has been to build the foundations for developing, operationalising, and scaling up new and standardized WHO OEM protocols.
The pilot project hopes to pave the way for a standardised approach, endorsed by the WHO Onchocerciasis Technical Subgroup (OTS) and key stakeholders, to accomplish OEM in the remaining hypoendemic, non-ivermectin treated, areas hopefully by 2020. Now with under five months left of the project, it is an exciting time, and we are seeking a short-term intern to help drive it to the finishing line.
The ideal candidate will have strong data management skills, be well versed in the use of Mircosoft Excel and Word and have a drive to learn, develop and build a career. Having experience of working across cultures will be an added advantage, but is not essential.
