Job Details

Are you a qualified (or part qualified) accountant? Do you have an interest in international work?

Prospectus is delighted to be working with the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) for the recruitment of a Finance Manager.

The WFSA is a global network of National Societies that brings together qualified practitioners in over 150 countries around the world. The charity occupies a unique space in improving global health, facilitating ground breaking work to support people who do not have access to safe anaesthesia care.

Please note, this post is a part time position for 3 to 4 days per week.

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will be responsible for day-to-day accounting and finance management for the charity, alongside providing updates to the Chief Executive, Treasurer and the Board when required. It is a high profile role that will act as business partner across teams to develop robust financial systems and processes that will support the WFSA's continued growth.

Your overall duties will fall under three overarching areas of work. The first, statutory financial reporting for audit (in line with UK and US regulations), will include the preparation of accounts and the annual budget, raising invoices, and the development of the charity's financial procedures. The second, communicating strategy and policy decisions to senior management, will incorporate the provision of financial advice across the charity, acting as the leading mediator between the senior management team and the board with regards to financial matters, and ensuring the long term financial bloodline of the charity through robust process management. Finally, providing an external interface with stakeholders will involve pension and insurance administration, completion of annual returns for the Charities Commission, and the preparation of Gift Aid claims.

To be considered for this role, it is essential that you are a qualified (or part qualified with strong experience) accountant. IT literate, you will have exposure to SORP, charity law and VAT. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge of accounting procedures and legislation in relation to the charity sector, and be comfortable being responsible for payroll. An excellent communicator, you will be at ease advising senior level stakeholders and reporting to the board and CEO. We are looking for an innovative candidate who will relish the opportunity to contribute to the strategic direction of the charity.

To apply for this role, please submit your CV online (Word format only); cover letters are not required at this stage. A full job description will be provided to candidates shortlisted by Prospectus.
