London

Permanent

c£60,000 per annum

Imagine not being able to move, sleep, or smile. Feeling anxious or depressed and struggling to think or remember. Your body not feeling like your own. This is what Parkinson's can feel like.

Every hour, two people in the UK are told they have Parkinson's – a brain condition that turns lives upside down, leaving a future full of uncertainty.

Parkinson’s UK is an ambitious and dynamic charity, passionate about improving the lives of everyone affected by Parkinson’s.  We are working towards bringing forward the day that no-one fears Parkinson’s, and our pace and determination is stronger than ever.

The role

It is a truly exciting time to be joining Parkinson’s UK as we are about to embark on a new five-year strategy which sets out our ambitious plans to find a cure, raise awareness and improve life for everyone affected by Parkinson's. We’ll do this by innovating how we deliver services, embracing new technology and building a movement for change.

The new position of Finance Controller will play a pivotal role in delivering the charity’s strategy by leading the finance team to provide effective, efficient and customer focused services, enabling the charity to achieve its bold operational and commercial goals.

This offers a real opportunity to make a powerful impact within the team and more broadly across the organisation.

What you’ll do

This is a senior role, working closely with the Director and Deputy Director of Finance & Performance, the Senior Leadership Team and the Board of Trustees. You will be involved in all aspects of the charity from day to day financial control to significant projects including developing a new finance system, revising our Estate Strategy and implementing new financial arrangements for our 400+ local branches.

This will be delivered by providing exceptional leadership on all aspects of financial management to ensure the financial integrity of the organisation.

What you’ll bring

To be successful in the role we are looking for an experienced and influential finance professional, who can build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders and can demonstrate:

  • Proven experience in leading a finance function, ensuring key outputs are improved to meet the changing needs of the charity
  • Experience of producing consolidated statutory accounts and developing strong relationships with auditors and other key stakeholders
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting principles, VAT and commercial acumen to support the development of sustainable financial models
  • Experience of operating in a modern digital workplace embracing new digital tools to foster collaboration and enhanced productivity
  • Experience building rapport and constructive relationships with senior managers to support the delivery of annual & strategic plans.

This is an exciting opportunity if you are looking for a challenging and rewarding role as your next move. If you are excited by our ambitious plans and you have the experience and leadership skills we need, we would welcome your application.
