Faculty of Science Technology Engineering & Mathematics
£33,199.00 to £39,609.00 pro rata; Ref. 15772
Temporary 3 year contract, 18.5 hours
Based in Milton Keynes
We are recruiting an Advocacy Officer to join our small and highly effective Floodplain Meadows Partnership team. This is an exciting opportunity to work on the big issues facing floodplains today and to influence Government (predominantly England) policy in agricultural land management, as we leave the European Union.
You will be well placed and supported to engage directly with people and organisations to promote the use of evidence to guide policy due to the combination of the Open University and Floodplain Meadows Partnership brand.
You must be educated to degree level or hold a post graduate or professional qualification. You will have a strong track record of effective advocacy, ideally in the environmental sector. You will have great communication and networking skills, with a focus on delivery. You will be able to write and present information to different audiences ranging from responding to consultations, liaising with Government, talking to Rivers Trusts or community groups, through to developing social media coverage in a fast paced, changing policy environment.
Through this role, you will make a marked difference in the conservation of grasslands in the UK, helping to deliver bigger, better and joined up landscapes for the benefit of people and wildlife.
