We are looking for a dynamic and driven Head of Policy & Public Affairs, to fill this senior position within our clients growing and impactful UK Policy and Influencing team.

Position: Head of Policy & Public Affairs

Hours: 35 hours per week
Salary: circa £43,900 per annum (including £3,299 inner London weighting)

Reporting to the Deputy Director – Policy & Influencing, the Head of Policy & Public Affairs will, working with colleagues from across the UK, oversee the development of evidence-based policy positions on key issues affecting stroke and lead the production of high quality advice and support on all policy issues to teams across the organisation.

The Head of Policy & Public Affairs will build and maintain productive relationships internally and externally, particularly with stakeholders in NHS England, clinicians, researchers and politicians. A key part of the team working on the National Stroke Programme, you will co-ordinate the work to deliver parts of the National Stroke Programme in England and ensure the organisation capitalises on opportunities.

A policy and public affairs expert, the Head of Policy & Public Affairs will work, advise and support colleagues across the organisation, including senior directors, on all matters of policy relating to the world of stroke, and work with public affairs colleagues to deliver impactful political engagement activity centered around their influencing priorities. Working closely with colleagues in all four nations, you will drive consistency and the sharing of best practice as they influence and campaign.

You will have a passion for good policy making and come with a strong track record of engaging senior stakeholders. You will lead work to embed the new influencing and campaigning approach work across the charity’s work as they begin to deliver their new strategy. You will be heavily involved in their strategic horizon-scanning work to ensure they are always prepared for developments in the external environment.

A confident and outward-looking individual, you will manage a team of policy and public affairs professionals and provide strategic advice to senior leaders. The Head of Policy & Public Affairs will be a key spokesperson for the charity, representing them in the media and at high level events and meetings.
