The Scout Association helps over 460,000 young people in the UK develop the skills they need to succeed in life. Internationally, there are over 30 million young people enjoying the benefits of Scouting. The organisation believes that young people develop most when they are 'learning by doing,'​ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

Having launched a new strategic plan: Skills for Life: this is an incredibly exciting time for Scouting in the UK. The Scout Association are now looking for a Head of Member Support to lead the organisation's member facing services and functions.

The Role

Working in partnership with national volunteer colleagues, the Head of Member Support will lead and review the member facing services to ensure that high standards of service delivery are maintained at all times. The role is responsible for ensuring that members of the public have the ability to access a highly engaging service as one of the external facing aspects of the organisation's headquarters. The Head of Member Support is also responsible for the design and delivery of national and international events ensuring that agreed outcomes for young people and adults are met as a result of event experience.

The Person

Experience and attributes to include:

- Proven success managing a service delivery function, possibly within a membership organisation or for an organisation with a large customer base

- Knowledge of customer experience best practice, policy and innovation

- Proven record of achievement in a senior leadership role

- Strong understanding of methods to increase engagement

- Exceptional stakeholder engagement experience

- The ability to lead and manage a large team

- Exceptional communication and influencing skills

- Excellent planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage a portfolio of projects/programmes
