The Development Manager will be an essential member of the University’s Development and Alumni Relations (DAR) team and play an integral part in the delivery of its mission and philanthropic income targets.

Reporting to the Head of Philanthropy and working closely with DAR and University colleagues, this is an exciting opportunity to join a high-performing, dynamic and ambitious team, helping to achieve campaign targets and wider objectives.

The post holder will be responsible for developing and stewarding long-lasting relationships with individual, corporate and foundation donors, and securing significant financial support.

Nottingham Trent University (NTU) has a reputation as one of the UK’s most innovative and effective higher education institutions.

As NTU celebrates 175 years since its founding college first opened its doors in 1843, the University looks back on an exceptional year, having just climbed 18 places to become the 16thUK university in The Guardian University Guide 2019 – a league table that is based on ratings in the areas that matter the most to young people, such as student satisfaction and employment outcomes, and having been named both University of the Year 2017 by Times Higher Education and Modern University of the Year for 2018 by the Good University Guide.

NTU also won a prestigious gold rating for its teaching excellence, sector-leading student analytics and social mobility work, continued to be one of the greenest universities globally, and its researchers received a number of prestigious accolades for their impactful and innovative work.

Increasingly, NTU’s research has a global impact, with 90% judged to be world-leading, internationally excellent or internationally recognised. It drives innovation not only in its curriculum but also in the businesses, community organisations and public sector enterprises with which it partners.

Each year, the University works with around 30,000 students from more than 125 countries, and has links with many businesses and organisations worldwide, which enables it to be in the top ten UK universities for students taking year-long work placements. More than 94% of its students come from state schools and 25% come from households with an income of less than £15,000.

The University boosts the UK economy by more than £900 million a year and generates 10,500 jobs. NTU is also the 13thmost popular UK university for undergraduate degree applications, with around five applications for every place available. 96% of its graduates are employed or in further study six months after leaving. Its alumni include CEOs of large global organisations, Turner Prize winners, international film directors, senior lawyers, TV presenters and politicians.

NTU’s alumni, friends and partners have always played a critical role in realising its ambitions. As NTU embarks on a major philanthropic campaign, and prepares to launch a new alumni and community engagement strategy, it is a particularly exciting time to be joining the Development and Alumni Relations team.

The ideal candidate for this position will have substantial experience in a major gifts fundraising/high-end sales role, alongside excellent verbal and written communication skills. They will be a strong team player working well both collaboratively and independently, whilst retaining a focus on achieving targets. Crucially, the successful candidate will have a proven ability to influence and communicate at the highest levels, in order to champion the University’s philanthropic campaign.

Determination, creativity, excellent interpersonal skills and a passion and commitment to the aims and objectives of Nottingham Trent University are all prerequisites.
